Well...
I failed my math test again. We get a quiz every two weeks. I got five more points than last time, but my grade was still sucky. I have always, always had quite a bit of difficulty with math. I've never passed a math test ever. I just filled out an application to get math tutoring at my college. So my question for those of you who struggle with math on a regular basis is how are you able to figure it out. I guess I just don't understand the concepts as well as all the Sighted people in my class. Any tips would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Leslie
Well, what kind of math course is it? Is it a college algebra or calculus or what? How did you pass your math classes in high school? What was the highest math course you took when you were in high school? Are you a braille reader or a low vision or strictly audio learner?
I like math so I found math to be manageable most of the times. However, I don't think that I can do math unless I physically read the equations I am trying to solve. Do you read all the chapters associated with your class? I found it a lot easier to learn and understand if I read the chapter before attending the class. When those professors point to blackboard and stuff, I'm clueless as to what they're talking about. Well, math is not for everyone. Just like every other subject is not for everyone. Try to analyze as to where and what you are having the most difficulty and see if you can identify those issues. Then let us know about them and maybe we can help?
Yup thats right. It depends which subject are you talking about. Try reading the textbook ahead of time. If your not satisfied with the examples from your textbooks, try looking up other examples online. I'm sure, there's loads of math resources out on the web. Try associating those examples with the study guide or the test questions. Follow the step by step procedure and be sure to look for examples with answers. So when you try to solve the problem, you will have the right answer to look at. If one solution didn't work out, try something else. Math is very specific. There is one answer for every question, but different methods to get there. I hope this helps good luck.
awesome advice. Math isnt really a fleeting discipline. However, you can try and get into it for awhile and you will do better. Pretend it is a good time. Good luck with that.
